Hey, all! I’ve recently done some graphic art for my favorite streamer, JoeltheMojo, which I’m super excited about! It’s themed after the NES, my personal favorite console (though it’s losing to the switch a bit right now). I really enjoyed doing this and will be slowly adding more and more art to his page. Go ahead and click on the images to Link to his Twitch page and social media. And watch out for his streams on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays! He’s been streaming a lot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lately, so have fun!!
I’m finishing my preparations to write book 2 of Energy so I thought I’d aquant myself with Karin a bit more. I’m really liking her and I can’t wait to see how a more confident and ugly minded character changes the narrative of the story.
Edit: I added Jonah’s tail because I felt like it wasn’t obvious enough that he’s a lion. I also realized that he was supposed to be on the other side of the canvas to go in the pattern with the rest of them, but that’s pretty much impossible to fix. LOL Leave it to Jonah to throw off the whole order of everything. You guys will see soon what a tard he is. Anyway, if I find other things wrong with this I’ll fix it when I do the touch ups for the completed calendar.
I did this one really quickly because I completely forgot about these so there are a ton of mistakes that I intend to go back and fix eventually, but in the mean time, here you go! Jonah is one of my favorites and he’ll be very important later and at the end of this chapter if I ever get around to finishing it. lol Well that’s all I have time for. Bye, bye. :)
So earlier this month I made a post about Caedis’s fighting style in which I briefly mentioned that she can turn any object into a weapon. Let me elaborate on that!
In the illustration below we see Caedis with boxing gloves that are similar to the ones shown in the cover art for Love is Violence, which I did in the spur of the moment before I had really decided what I was going to do. It’s likely that in the chapter her gloves will end up looking like those instead of the ones in this pic and here’s why. Caedis has the power to turn any object into a weapon of her choice which she can transform at any time. These weapons become stronger depending on how much sentimental value the object has. Caedis doesn’t really own anything but the clothes on her back so they are the most sentimental things she has and so she tends to turn articles of clothing into weapons. In this picture, she’s turned her shirt into boxing gloves, but I’m thinking in the chapter she’ll probably use her shoes just because that makes more sense since there’s two of them.
SO! Now that that’s established, I’ll try not to spoil my plans and tell you what effect this has on the story and relationships. But I will say that I’ll be having fun with this by making her use as many different weapons as possible! So I’ll be posting some pics of Caedis using a bunch of different weapons. ^^ Look forward to it!
So if I haven’t said anything before about it, I’ve been working with Kokoro Hane, the director of Tofu Sheets Visual, doing some promo art for her Visual Novel, The Only One Girl. This isn’t any of the art for the game, though. This was for fun because I really love the main character, Sebby! Her design is great but her personality is better!
This VN is bound to be different from others around right now with the passion and work the Tofu Sheets team puts into it. From artwork to excellent writing and voice work! And I’m relieved that the main character isn’t some Mary Sue, cookie cutter self insert girl, but a believable girl with feelings and preferences. I’m really looking forward to the finished product.
There’s lots I want to say about it, but there’s so much that I’d be better off just leaving a link here to the Lemma Soft post. So click here to learn all about The Only One Girl! And happy playing!
Sorry if these colors are blindingly bright. I was experimenting. lol. I wanted to try something summery! I never really get into summer since I don’t really like it and I prefer drawing winter clothes so this is my attempt at something I don’t normally do and also since it’s summer at this point in the story! ^^ Can’t wait until these two become a bit closer. Sorry it’s so slowburn, but I wanted their relationship to develop at least a little realistically. xD
So if you watch my speed drawing vids then you know the quality isn’t spectacular. This is because the laptop I use to draw is basically falling apart. Anyway, I did record this and I will probably post the video sometime this month, but lately I just feel like I should stop doing them until I can get a new laptop that can handle saving a high quality video. So in the mean time I’ll still be posting my calendar art, but I might stop doing the videos.
On another note, this is Ruby! Ruby is probably my favorite Lucy’s Tail character to draw and to write. She’s girly, but strong willed, she can be a bit pushy, but means well, and she just has the best character design! I mean, those spots. Come on! I love her so you can bet she’ll become more important than she’s been so far. And if you haven’t noticed, that jacket she’s working on belongs to another towns person you may recognize! ;)
Age: ??? Species: Mermaid
The King of the Sea has had many forms but the woman who site on the throne now is tolerant of little. She doesn’t smile, but her people speak of her kindness often. It is said that the Sea King can see through the eyes of any creature that dwells under the water and that her magic can lift the entire ocean.
Ahti is not the first Sea King, but she has watched over the waters of Tuonela for many years. She doesn’t seem to care much about what happens on the surface, but from what we can gather, she’s quite fond of Louhi. She is the purest of the sea people and it is impossible to look her in the eye and tell a lie.
Lucy likes to cause trouble for the town of Holiday where all the inhabitants are cats. So much so that she is no longer allowed to live in town. In a world inhabited only by animals, Lucy finds adventure everywhere while slowly trying to get back into the good graces of the towns people of Holiday.
Ranqi Li, or Rain as she’s also called, is a very talented artist that I’m excited to show you all! I can feel her dedication from the way she made an effort to put her best foot forward for this feature. As usual I gave a short interview in which Rain gave me some pretty in depth answers! I’ve posted more of her art beneath the interview so check her out!
What are your goals as an artist?
I would say most aspirant to intermediate artists share similar goals. I sometimes worry about my future, and hope that I will be able to bring enough on the table as an artist. Despite all that, and say I’m at industry-standard level without many issues whatsoever; I may then have real goals.
During my high school time, a teacher once told me that it’s very common to change majors in college, and a number between 6 to 8 is usual. I did not believe it, because it just sounds so ridiculous. I thought to myself, “why would I give up something so dearly to me?” Funny thing is that, we all grow up, and things change. My goals changed from animator, 3D animator, 3D modeler, rigger, storyboard artist, illustrator, to concept artist. I never knew there were so many different sections under the “Art major”.
After all these nonsense, I hope my intention is clear. I no longer dream to work for Disney, Dreamwork, Pixar, etc. Nor want to make a game, being a part of animated movie, and make comic books. Before I get to where I need to be, nothing is worth mentioning. All that said, Let’s work hard together.
Are there any projects you’re working on?
yes, I’m working to get some finished character concept arts done. I also like drawing (and watching) anime very much, so I will always have that part going on during my free time. For the other times, I will have random illustrations that come from nowhere.
Why do you want more viewers and what do you feel you have to offer your audience?
I do want more viewers, but at the same time I don’t. I feel like there are just things we should not force. It’s slow, but I can definitely see the progress on viewers and my art skill. I don’t usually offer people stuff, well in some cases I do. I get requests for tutorials, but I feel like I should not make them until I really know what I’m doing.
How often do you update and how serious are you about your art?
I try to not slack off, but my updates are still random between a week to a month. Some projects take a long time, I have to keep fixing and twisting things. I’m really strict about my drawings, so they are usually good quality.
What are your biggest influences?
My childhood anime series such as Sailor Moon, SlamDunk, and Cardcaptor Sakura. I then get really into video games and MMOs, so anime and video games. (maybe I should add cup-of-noodles)
